16/4	More than 10,000 visited Přerov WWC gamesRadoslav Vavřina, Martin VoltrOne of the main reasons why this year´s Division I World Women´s Championships was held in Přerov was top-class experience with local fans. And they sure did fulfill the expectations. A total of 10,390 spectators found their way into the MEO Arena which is the best result of total attendance in this division since 2001.
14/4	Tournament summary: Czech quest to the elite group doesn’t end yetRichard WagnerFrom last Sunday to this Saturday, the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship took place in Prerov. This tournament consisted of 15 games, many of them very exciting and entertaining for the fantastic crowds that came to watch at Meo Arena. As you probably know, the Czechs fulfilled their role as pre-tournament favourites. The team coached by Jiri Vozak beat all five opponents and won this championship, and now must face Japan in a best-of-three series to determine who will play in the championship division next year.
13/4	The best players from each team - two goalies, no defendersRichard WagnerThe tournament is over. This year’s Women’s World Championship brought a great deal of interesting matches. As you know, the Czech Republic won. The best players, and the key players too, from each team were named by the directorate of the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship. 12/4	Shootout win for AustriaSVK - AUT 3:4, 5 round \| Radim NemelaThe closing game for Austria and Slovakia started the final day of the tournament. In first two periods the Slovaks were better and gained a two-goal lead, but in the third period the Austrians scored twice to tie it. In the shootout, the only goal was scored by Anna Maria Beiter-Schwarzler, giving the bonus point to Team Austria.
12/4	Norway beat France, secure at least bronze medalNOR - FRA 4:1, 5 round \| Derek OBrienIn a game that featured two teams tied with 6 points, the winner would be guaranteed at least a bronze medal -- and a good chance at a silver -- and the loser would go home without a medal. Despite being outshot 47-15, Norway got excellent goaltending from Toni Veronica Nilsen and won 4-1. Andrea Dalen scored 2 goals and Ingvild had a goal and an assist.
12/4	Czechs finish tournament with perfect record, beat Danes 5-1CZE - DEN 5:1, 5 round \| Derek OBrienAlthough they had already assured themselves a promotion to the top division next year, Team Czech Republic finished off the 2014 Division I Group A tournament by scoring five goals in the third period to defeat Denmark 5-1. For a while, it looked like the Danes might have a shot at the silver medal, but instead have to be content with the bronze.
11/4	We still want a medal, says Annika Fazokas - three other teams also want oneRichard WagnerOn Thursday both the overall winner of the tournament and the team to be relegated were decided. The Czech victory over Slovakia means that the tournament hosts will return to the championship group in 2015. At the same time, it assures that Team Slovakia will finish with the worst record. But the tournament isn’t over. Still to be decided is the order of the teams second through fifth. The last three games of the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship will be played on Saturday.
10/4	Denmark destroy France with 5 goalsDEN - FRA 5:1, 4 round \| Tomáš HálaThursday´s first game was played between Denmark and France. Denmark took a quick lead and then added a second goal. France scored just once but Denmark didn´t allow any surprises. They added two goals in the end and they won easily, 5-1.
10/4	Team Austria upset Norwegians, now very close to remaining in Group AAUT - NOR 5:2, 4 round \| Richard WagnerThis game has shown us how balanced the teams are in this tournament. Many considered the Norwegians heavy favourites, but that´s not how it played out on the ice. Although Norway scored the first goal early in the second period, Austria led 3-2 by the end of the second period and added two more goals in the third for a huge win. Now if Slovakia lose to the favoured Czechs in the day´s late game, Austria´s position in the group for next year will be secure.
10/4	Czechs beat Slovak and celebrate promotionSVK - CZE 1:3, 4 round \| Radim NemelaIn the so-called Czecho-Slovakian "federal derby", the Czech team was better throughout the game, but the score was still 1-1 after two periods. In the third, the Czechs added two more goals and then watched over their lead until the end. With the win, they clinched first place in the tournament, and promotion to the championship division in 2015.
9/4	France start slow, then destroy AustriaFRA - AUT 7:2, 3 round \| Tomáš HálaWednesday´s first game was between France and Austria. Team Austria took quick lead but France showed determination and took over the game. France scored their first three goals on the power play, eventually bombarding Austria 7-2. French goalie Caroline Baldin made 27 saves.
9/4	Danes score early, defend late to beat Slovaks 5-3DEN - SVK 5:3, 3 round \| Derek OBrienTeam Denmark scored the game´s first five goals in the first 27 minutes to take a commanding lead, but then were sent reeling as the Slovaks answered with three goals in five minutes. They then held on over the last 27 minutes to win 5-3. Michelle Weiss scored 2 goals, while Marie Henriksen and Josefine Jakobsen had 2 assists each. Petra Jurcova and Martina Velickova had 2 points each for Team Slovakia.
9/4	Battle for the 1st place goes to Team Czech RepublicCZE - NOR 2:0, 3 round \| Radim NemelaIn what many were predicting as the game to decide which team would win the group, the Czech Republic faced Norway on Wednesday night in front of electric home crowd. The Czechs came out strong and scored a goal in each of the first two periods. The Norwegians tried to build some offence in the last period, but the Czechs played strong defence and didn´t allow them to score. The final score was 2-0, putting the Czechs in good position to gain promotion.
8/4	Alea iacta est, Czechs with Norwegians will fight for first place!Richard WagnerTwo gamedays have probably shown us the biggest favourites of this tournament. Two leaders – Czech Republic and Norway – will tomorrow play to reach first place and escape from all other teams. The position of Team Slovakia at the bottom of the standings is maybe a little bit surprising. The biggest underdogs of the tournament are the Austrians, who are playing good hockey, but lost both games late. Danish forward Josefine Persson (pictured) leads with 4 goals.
7/4	France defeat Slovakia with fighting performanceSVK - FRA 1:3, 2 round \| Tomáš HálaThe second day of this tournament started with match between Slovakia and France. Both teams were defeated yesterday, so they wanted to change their situation. Slovakia had a better start and scored early, but France didn´t give up and fought back to win.
7/4	My goal was very important for whole team, says Soline Fohrer after game with SlovakiaSVK - FRA 1:3, 2 round \| Richard WagnerThe second day of the tournament brought a very nice game between Slovakia and France. The Slovaks were leading after the first period, but then Soline Fohrer tied the score, which started to turn the game in her team’s favour. In the end, Team France celebrated a 3-1 win. “It’s our first win in this championship, so it gives us a lot of confident,” she said afterward.
7/4	Norway smashes up DenmarkDEN - NOR 1:5, 2 round \| Tomáš HálaTeam Norway won this Nordic derby without much trouble. They secured their victory in the first period when they scored three times. Two goals were scored by Andrea Dalen, and best players chosen for each team were Josephine Asperup and Ingvild Farstad.
7/4	Battle on ice for Czech RepublicCZE - AUT 2:1, 2 round \| Radim NemelaThe Czech team was better in the first two periods and got a one-goal lead, but in third period there were some penalties and Austria was back in the game and evened the score. The game turned into a real battle on ice then, in which the Czechs took the lead back in with less than four minutes remaining and held it until the end.
6/4	Czech team beat France 3-0FRA - CZE 0:3, 1 round \| Radim NemelaIn the first game of the tournament, the Czech team was better throughout the game. Even though they had problems scoring in first half, they scored once at the end of the second period and they added two goals in third period and deservedly won 3-0.
6/4	Norway opens with big 6-3 win over SlovakiaNOR - SVK 6:3, 1 round \| Derek OBrienNorway announced their presence in this Division I World Championship by scoring four straight goals against Slovakia, then finishing with a 6-3 opening-day. They were led by 2 goals and 1 assist by Ingvild Farstad, 2 goals by Andrea Dalén and 2-point efforts from Silje Holos, Mathea Fisher and Madelen Haug-Hansen.

Best players of WWC

12.04.2014 - The Directorate of the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship has determined the best players of the whole tournament. As the best goalie was named Klara Peslarova from the Czech Republic, as the best defender was awarded Silje Holos from Norway. Her teammate, Andrea Dalen, was named as the best forward.

U-15 game today!

11.04.2014 - The Women’s World Championship has a day off, but Meo Aréna in Přerov will still be busy An international exhibition game in the women’s U15 category will be played between the Czech Republic and Hungary. The game starts at 18:15.

09.04.2014 - During the game between the Czech Republic and Norway, a kiosk with official programs will again be on display. You can buy one and get some very interesting tournament information.

New website launched

23.01.2014 - The official website of the IIHF Women´s World Chapmionship Dvision I, Group A has just been launched. The Tournament will take place in Prerov´s ice hockey arena between the 6th – 12th of April, 2014.
