Czechs add another overtime win, this time against Norway
Team Czech Republic finished its pre-WWC preparation by a game against Norway at their training camp in Liberec. It bore similarities to the game with Slovakia and also saw the Czechs winning in overtime as well. The home team had the lead twice, but Team Norway came back to tie the score both times, including an equalizer with just thirteen seconds left in regulation. Denisa Křížová, however, scored in overtime to give her team an OT win.
In the second period, Norway played much better and started causing problems for the home team. Andrea Dalen looked like the best player on the ice and soon proved that by scoring a goal on a one-timer to put her team on the scoreboard. That would be all for the second.
Just less than two minutes into the third period, the Czechs were back up by one. After one of visiting players laid down on the puck, a penalty shot ensued and captain of Team Czech Republic, Alena Polenská, capitalized on it to make it 2-1.
It looked like the Czechs might hang on to the tight lead until the very end, but when the visiting team pulled their goalie for an extra attacker in the last minute, they were finally able to tie things up again. Ingvild Farstad put the rebound home despite huge effort from Czech players and sent the game to overtime.
Both teams played cautiously in the OT, but the game ended up not going to shootout after all. Denisa Křížová took charge of things with just one minute and one second left and beat the goalie with a shot over her shoulder to make the final score 3-2 in overtime.
